This week's Today is the Day Changemakers interview is with Michael Weamer, President & CEO of The Marfan Foundation. Michael joined The Marfan Foundation after over two decades as the Executive Vice President for the American Heart Association. Michael serves on multiple Boards.

While Michael is leading his team to achieve great success in spreading the mission and vision of the organization, he also understands the importance of creating a balanced work environment for his non-profit staff to thrive. His career has been dedicated to educating communities and truly making the world a better place. He has mentored many, including yours truly!

The Marfan Foundation is the only nonprofit organization in the U.S. that funds research, provides patient support, and conducts public and medical education to create a brighter future for everyone affected by Marfan syndrome, VASCULAR EDS, Loeys-Dietz and related conditions.

The Marfan Foundation received special recognition in NPT's Best Nonprofits to work for in 2020. The foundation was  #30 out of 50 non-profits that were chosen. Congratulations to Michael and his amazing team!

During this interview Michael mentions a book called, "The Second Mountain" by David Brooks.  The premise of the book, which Michael explains in the interview really interested me.  A few days later the book arrived at my doorstep. Thank you, Michael! I highly recommend this book to those who are on their way to approaching The Second Mountain where interdependence is even more important than independence.

Special thank you to Michael for sharing his expertise and stories with us! To learn more about The Marfan Foundation, please visit www.marfan.org. Please email if you have any questions at jodi@todayisthedayliveit.com.

Next Wednesday, January 13, I welcome Toni Pergolin to the podcast. Toni is the President & CEO of Bancroft. The title of her interview is "Too Important To Fail". That follows the title of her book, "Too Important to Fail - Leadership Lessons for Nonprofits". Hear how she takes an organization from financial meltdown to being able to open a $75 million state of the art facility for those in which Bancroft serves.
