Welcome to episode 7 of Today is the Day Changemakers, 'Let Your Passion Drive Your Purpose'.

In this episode my guest is Andrea Plaza, Founder & Chief Storyteller of Andrea Plaza, LLC. If you have ever felt like there was something more out there for you, or that you need to make a change in order to take better care of yourself, this is the episode to listen to.

Andrea made a decision three years ago to take care of herself and follow her heart. She went from working for a large not-for-profit organization to supporting multiple non-profits, and businesses by launching her own company that provides public relations, storytelling and marketing.

Self-care is not something many leaders talk about. As a matter of fact, due to the heavy load many of us carry along our journey's, it is something that seems to be taboo for many to discuss. It is so important for us to not just listen to what our bodies and minds are telling us, but also to take action when we become aware of what it is that we need. Andrea did just that! She had a great career working for a great organization, but knew it was time for a change. She took the necessary planning steps. Her network supported her new business, and it launched in a way that even surprised Andrea. She felt untethered, joyous, and had so much more energy to work than ever before. It  is so wonderful to hear the joy in her voice and the gratitude that she has for those who supported her journey.

Client's of Andrea's get a very special benefit from working with her, as she cares deeply about each and every one of them. Take a listen to what she suggests not-for-profits should be focusing on during this time. Andrea is a mentor to many and has helped yours truly with suggestions along the way. Thank you, Andrea for being vulnerable during this interview and sharing your inspiring journey that has just begun. I know Andrea Plaza, LLC will only continue to soar!

On a side note, I worked several years ago for Andrea for about a year in my role as Development Director, for what was then called the Community YMCA. It has since changed to the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County. I walked into Andrea's office and there on her wall was a sign with many inspirational sayings. On the very last line of that sign was four words - Today is the Day! That is not where the name of the podcast came from, but it was a sign in a very different way. Listen to this interview to hear our thoughts on why we meet people along our journey, and the importance of paying attention to the signs.

On the next episode of Today is the Day Changemakers, I welcome Jacob Slichter who has an amazing resume. He is the drummer from the band - Semisonic, author of 'So You Wanna Be a Rock and Roll Star', and a Professor at Sarah Lawrence College.

I am so grateful to all of my guests for being vulnerable, sharing their journey, and the lessons that they have learned along the way.
