This week my guest is Nanci France-Vaz, Owner Nancy France Vaz Fine Art LLC. She is a Modern Renaissance Artist that uses allegorical symbolism to create visual stories on canvas.
She was the recipient of the Rhodes Scholarship Award. Has exhibited her work in multiple galleries and had three solo shows. Nancy has won many notable awards nationally and has been published in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, ModPortrait 2020, International Artists, Realism Today, as well as many others.
At a young age Nancy wanted to be an actress and had a strong pull to art and drawing, but her parents discouraged her from going into a career related to the arts and encouraged Nanci to get a 9-5 job. So, she job hopped for a bit always feeling the calling to be creative. Along the way she had a job on Wall Street, another role that was not the right fit for her. She shares that during her time working on Wall Street bad influences took over and she went through a difficult time. Using her own self-preservation, tenacity, and determination she turned her life around. She could not take running away from herself anymore, so she shares how at 36 years old she found her way to going back to school for what she originally wanted to do in the first place – go to art school. Her message Listen to what is inside of you – what is calling you and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Those who are pulled to being creative are being called to it. It is not something that is easily squelched. Nanci is doing what she loves and inspires others who have a calling to be an artist to do the same.
